LAWTON, Okla. – The Aggie men's basketball team cruised past Western New Mexico 86-66 on Thursday evening in the Aggie Gym.
Tyus Momoh led Cameron with 18 points after going 4-for-8 from beyond the arc with two steals. Also accounting for two of the Aggies' eight steals was
Delvonte Pierre who chipped in 15 points.
Rounding out the Ags with double digits scoring was
Tyler Williams with 16 points and
Trey Hall 14 points.
JV Long led with a team high nine rebounds.
Stacey Lambert had three blocks.
In the first half, Cameron outlasted two Mustang ties and lead changes to carry a 31-27 lead into halftime. The Aggies never let WNMU lead by more than one possession.
Cameron used a late eight point run over three minutes to combat seven three-pointers the Mustangs made over the half and allowed just four points in the final minute of the frame to hold their advantage.
In the first half, Cameron shot 34 percent from the field, made four three-pointers and went 100 percent from the line but just 3-for-3.
Midway through the second half is when Cameron broke into double digits leads helped by improving their shooting to 59 percent and matched with four treys again. The
Mustangs only made three deep balls this time but also went 12-for-19 at the stripe while Cameron went 4-for-6.
The Aggies scored 50 points in the paint and had 27 fastbreak points.
The win brings Cameron to 16-10 overall and 9-7 in the league. WNMU is now 2-21 and 0-15 in the LSC.
