Aggie men fall in LSC quarterfinals to Tarleton State, 63-49

DENTON, Texas – The Cameron men's basketball season came to a close with a 63-49 loss to Tarleton State at the Lone Star Conference tournament quarterfinals on Friday afternoon.

The Aggies shot a cold 26 percent in the opening game of the men's bracket; not enough to overtake the Texans who shot 39 percent on the floor and led by as 16 points in the second half.

Tyus Momoh led Cameron with 11 points and three steals while JV Long was one point shy of double figures with nine points. Jalen Nicholas had a team best 11 rebounds.

TSU was led by Corinthian Ramsey who scored 20 points.

The first half saw neither team lead by more than two possessions with the Aggies keeping within reach of the Texans despite shooting 27 percent to their 33 percent. CU struggled from the perimeter, making just 1 of 11 and shot 50 percent at the line.

TSU entered the half leading 27-22.

About ten minutes into the second half, the Texans extended advantage to 13 points from which the Aggies fought back with three straight buckets to come back within three possessions.

With five minutes remaining, CU trailed 50-42 until they experienced a three minute scoring drought. The Aggies allowed just five TSU free throws during that time, but it allowed the Texans to achieve a double digit lead.

TSU retained their edge for the remainder of the game to win 63-49 and advance to the semi-finals with a 20-10 overall record.

Cameron ends the year 11-17.
