LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron University volleyball team will welcome in Southwestern Oklahoma State for their home opener on Tuesday, Aug. 28 starting at 6 p.m.

Free T-Shirts:
To add to the excitement of the first home game of the 2018 season, Aggie volleyball will give out free CU volleyball t-shirts to the first 30 fans to enter the Aggie Gym.
About the Aggies:
Cameron opened up the season with a 1-3 record at the Southern Arkansas Invitational last weekend. After a 3-0 loss to Quincy to start the weekend, CU battled to five sets in the remaining three matches, with their lone win coming against Union (Tenn.). In the four matches, the Black and Gold hit .171 as a team with 10.7 kills and 9.8 assists per set. They also collected a total of 23 service aces and on the defensive side, averaged 16.1 digs and 1.6 blocks per set.
Individually,
Paige Dixon leads CU with 41 kills (2.28 per set), while five others have 20 or more through the first weekend of matches.
Katherine Manning and
Kirsten Evans have both averaged over four assists per set, with Manning leading the team with 91 total.
Brittnee Altic not only leads the team with 13 service aces and 110 digs, but she is also ranked in the top-2 of the Lone Star Conference in both categories; the senior libero was named to the all-tournament team and had 43 digs against SAU. Additionally,
Brandy Carr led the way at the net last weekend, totaling 17 blocks, while
Amarachi Iwunze had 12.
Scouting SWOSU:
Southwestern Oklahoma State enters the non-conference match with a 3-1 start, taking down Texas Woman's, St. Edward's, and Northwood at the TWU Pioneer Classic this past weekend. The Bulldogs battled to five sets in their matches against TWU and STEU, and then won in four over Northwood, while losing in three sets to Florida Tech. Through their first four matches, SWOSU average 11.1 kills, 10.2 assists, 1.5 service aces, 19.6 digs, and 1.0 blocks per set.
Danusia Sipa Borgeau leads the Bulldogs with 58 kills (3.41 per set), while Kodee Avery tallied 93 assists during the TWO Classic. Sofia Gruden led the team with 13 total blocks, and Kaitlyn Dillon averaged a team best 4.82 digs per set.

Following this non-league match-up with SWOSU, Cameron will compete in their second four match invite of the 2018 season this upcoming Friday and Saturday. They will travel to Pittsburg, Kan. to take on Northwestern Oklahoma State, Pittsburg State, Christian Brothers, and Chadron State in the PSU Gorilla Classic.
