LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron University volleyball team will open up Lone Star Conference play this weekend as they host West Texas A&M on Friday, Sep. 7 and Eastern New Mexico on Saturday, Sep. 8.

About the Aggies:
The Black and Gold are now 2-8 overall this season after falling in five sets to Southern Nazarene in their final non-conference match. CU had a season-high 10 total blocks against the Storm, as
Paige Dixon and
Brittany Lawson combined for 24 kills and 15 digs. On the season, the Aggies are ranked No. 1 in the nation in total assists (463), digs (688), and kills (498). They are also hitting .200 as a team and average 1.1 service aces and 1.8 blocks per set.
Dixon leads Cameron with 109 total kills, while
Brandy Carr has 76 and
Ashleigh McFatridge has 74. Carr is also ranked No. 1 in the Division II in total blocks (48), while libero
Brittnee Altic is second in the country with 23 service aces and 226 digs.
Katherine Manning has had a solid start to the season as CU's main setter, averaging 5.74 assists and 2.23 digs per set, while on the block, McFatridge, Dixon, and
Amarachi Iwunze have each reached the 20 block plateau.
Scouting the Lady Buffs:
The West Texas A&M volleyball team is 5-3 on the young season, with their only three loses coming against top-25 teams Rockhurst, Tampa, and Florida Southern. WT is one of the top teams in the nation in kills (13.9), assists (13.1), and digs (18.7) per set, while hitting .191 as a team. They have also totaled 33 service aces and 45.5 total blocks.
Individually, Taylor Kress leads the Lady Buffs with 82 kills, as Lindsey Smith has 71 and Selena Batiste has 63. The team's two setter offense has resulted in Batiste leading the team with 6.5 assists per set and Gabby Emery adding 4.42. Batiste is one of just a handful of players in the country who have notches a triple-double with her 11 kills, 19 assists, and 10 digs against Emporia State. On the defensive side of things, Chandler Vogel leads WT with 128 digs, while Smith and Destiny Jones each have 20 total blocks.
Scouting the Greyhounds:
Eastern New Mexico had won just two out of their first seven contests, defeating both Purdue Northwest and Colorado State-Pueblo in five sets. They started out the season with a 0-4 record at the WT Classic, before going 2-2 at the St. Edward's Invite. ENMU averages 11.7 kills and 11.2 assists per set while attack at a .185 percentage. Defensively, they record 14.5 digs and 1.4 blocks per game.
Jasmine Gannon leads the Greyhounds with 112 kills, as Sarah Tuioti-Mariner has 87. The two are both hitting over .215 on the attack. The team uses a pair of setters, Kaitlyn Luna, who averages 5.75 assists per set, and Rae Sapiga, who averages 4.28. Additionally, libero Alba Ontiveros has totaled 153 digs, while Julie Tucker and Jennifer Martinez have combined for 38 total blocks.

Cameron will begin a four match road stretch with a trip west to take on Western New Mexico on Friday, Sep. 14 and then UT Permian Basin on Saturday, Sep. 15.
