Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Late threes fuel CU comeback win over ENMU

LAWTON, Okla. -- Cameron University Aggies rally from down 16 points to earn 8th win of the season over Eastern New Mexico behind clutch threes from Zach Dumas, Tyus Momoh, and Jordan Lewis.

The first half saw a tightly contested back and forth basketball game break out at the Aggie Gym. At the 18 minute mark of the first half, the Cameron Aggies held a seven point lead, their largest of the half. Eight minutes later not only had the lead dried up, but the Aggies found themselves down by nine. An 11-0 run got CU the lead back before the team went down by a point into the locker room.

The game saw five ties in the first twenty minutes, and a total of ten lead changes before the break. Johann Tate provided a spark from the CU bench. Tate blitzed in a trio of three pointers including a four point play that energized the Aggies. He finished the first half with a team high ten points.

The Greyhounds were able to capture 24 points in the paint, as the Aggies had trouble matching up down low defensively. Both teams were careful with the basketball only turning the rock over nine times combined in the first half.

After an evenly matched first half, The Greyhounds went on a 5-0 run. At the 16 minute mark, the Greyhounds held a 16 point lead. CU went cold from deep, starting the half 1-for-7 from three point range.

With five minutes left, the Aggies were able to pull within five off a Dumas three. Lewis followed that up with a three at the three minute mark pulled the Aggies within two, and Lewis came right back down the floor for a transition trey to give Cameron their first lead of the second half.

The Aggies were able to hold the Greyhounds off the scoreboard for a minute and thirty seconds down the stretch thanks to suffocating defense as CU head coach Andrew Brown deployed the full court press and Cameron was able to create three turnovers in the last three minutes of play.

After the Greyhounds answered with a dunk to grab a one point lead of their own, Dumas came back with an and one bucket to give Cameron their 8th win of the season and fourth of conference play.

The Aggies finished the game on a 29-11 run in the final eight minutes of play to cap off a 16 point comeback. Dumas finished the game with ten points. Lewis and Momoh shared the team high with 14 points each. Kendall Scott and Tate also got into double figures with 12 and 10 respectively.

Cameron will be back in the Aggie Gym on Saturday as they host No. 11 West Texas A&M for a 4 p.m. tip.
