Cameron hosts division matches against Lions and Patriots

LAWTON, Okla. – After getting back to the win column on Tuesday night, the Aggie volleyball team gets back to Lone Star Conference action as they host A&M-Commerce and UT Tyler on Friday and Saturday.

Against the Opponents:
Cameron is 26-29 all-time against A&M-Commerce, which includes a 15-10 record at home in the Aggie Gym. However, CU has not beaten their foes from Commerce since 2015, with the Lions holding a six match winning streak heading into Friday's contest. This will be the first time that Cameron and UT Tyler have player each other in program history.

About the Aggies:
The Black and Gold snapped a five match losing skid with a 3-2 win over East Central on Tuesday. They are now 5-10 on the year with a 1-5 mark against the conference. CU is also 1-3 against the division with a win over MSU and one loss to TWU and two to UAFS. They average 11.4 kills and 10.8 assists per frame with a .168 attack percentage. CU also blocks 1.9 balls at the net and records 1.3 aces from the service line per set. Shantalle Demirjian (119) and Arianna Navarrete (118) lead the team in kills and both average over 2.20 per set, along with Sarah Wright, who has 68 kills in 29 sets played. Navarrete also leads CU with18 aces while Katherine Manning and Desiree Marmolejo have both totaled over 200 assists through 15 matches played. Defensively, Riana Blount enters the weekend with 45.0 blocks, Walia Franklin has 39.0, and Caitlyn Henderson has 37.0; all three players are ranked in the top-20 of the conference in total blocks. Libero Peyton Little is eighth in the conference with 3.98 digs per frame.

Scouting A&M-Commerce:
The Lions, who are receiving votes in this week's AVCA Top-25 Poll, enter their match with CU with an 11-4 record, which includes a 5-1 mark against conference opponents. They are also 2-0 against divisional foes with 3-1 wins over MSU and TWU. A&M-Commerce is averaging just over 13 kills per set, while hitting .209 on the attack, and 12.4 helpers per frame. Shelley Chapron, the league Preseason Player of the Year, is averaging 3.20 kills per set while hitting .395 and collecting 17 aces. Chapron also leads the team, who averages 2.3 blocks per set, with 68 total stuffs. Sydney Anderson is second on the team with 37 blocks and 176 kills, and Natalie Sarbeck leads the squad with 328 assists.

Scouting UT Tyler:
The Patriots are 7-7 on the year and 2-4 to start out their first year in the LSC. They are also 0-2 in the division, losing to both Texas Woman's and Midwestern State. They are averaging 12.6 kills and 11.9 assists per set with a .199 attack percentage. UTT also records 1.6 service aces and 1.9 blocks per frame as a team. Freshman Kylee Becker leads the team with 139 kills through 14 matches this season, while hitting .230 on the attack and recording a team-best 16 aces. Additionally, Taylor Stoops averages 5.96 assists per set and has 15 aces on the season, while Hattie Murray (39.0), Kayla McCoy (31.0), and Maiya Pena (29.0) are all averaging over 0.70 blocks per set.

Up Next:
Cameron hosts another non-conference opponent on Tuesday night, Oct. 15, welcoming in Northwestern Oklahoma State for the programs annual "Dig Pink" match. CU Athletics and SAAC encourage fans to wear pink to the match to raise awareness on breast cancer.
