LAWTON, Okla. – After an hour-long delay due to a power outage, the Cameron volleyball team snapped their seven-match losing streak with a come from behind win over Saint Mary's in five sets on Saturday.

Due to a power outage close to campus, the match, which was scheduled for 2 p.m., did not begin until 3:20 p.m. in the Aggie Gym. Like the power, the Aggies needed a few minutes to get going to start the match. They hit .200 in the first set and .113 in the second before hitting over .270 in the remaining three sets. Cameron totaled 12 total blocks in the win, while notching six aces from the service line.

Shantalle Demirjian led the Black and Gold with a team-high 17.5 points, recording a career-high 17 kills while hitting .250 on the attack.
Arianna Navarrete also reached a career-high in kills with 14, while
Sarah Wright chipped in 11 kills and two aces in the winning effort.

Setters
Katherine Manning (27 assists, 11 digs) and
Desiree Marmolejo (27 assists, 10 digs) both recorded double-doubles, as Manning led CU with three service aces.

Caitlyn Henderson led the block party with six, while fellow freshman
Kendyl Payne added four stuffs and
Peyton Little recorded a team-high 23 digs.

In the first set, the Black and Gold got off to a quick start, earning the first two points of the match. From there it was a back and forth set, but the Aggies ultimately lost the frame 25-21. Navarrete led the way in the points category for CU with five, followed closely behind by
Riana Blount who tallied four points of her own.

In the second set, the Aggies fought hard to the end. After getting down 4-1 to start the frame, the Black and Gold were able to tie it up at 17 late in the set, before taking a 19-18 lead. The two teams traded points until the scrappy Aggies eventually fell in a nail-biting set that ended 30-28 in favor of the Rattlers.Â

Cameron rebounded in set three. With their backs against the wall, Coach
Brandon Stephenson's squad escaped what could have been the final set with a 25-21 win. The Aggies then pushed the match to a full five sets with a 25-20 win in the fourth.

In set five, after being down early, the Aggies called a timeout down 13-11, which sparked a 4-0 run that earned them the 15-13 set win and the 3-2 match victory.

Cameron's comeback win on Saturday moved their 2019 record to 6-16 and their Lone Star Conference mark to 2-10. They will look to turn build on the win over StMU on Tuesday, Oct. 29, as they host Southern Nazarene in a 6 p.m. non-conference battle.
