Edmond, Okla. - The Cameron University softball team wrapped up the Raising Canes Edmond Festival on Monday evening against Rogers State featuring an 8-3 Aggie win behind Callie Busby's two runs scored and RBI double.
After one dominating win, and one thrilling win yesterday, the Aggies came into the final day of tournament play with a ton of momentum.
The Cameron Aggies posted three runs in the top half of the first.
Brenna Busby was the first Aggie to come around to score, thanks to a throwing error from the pressure put on the Rodgers State defense by a Callie Busby sac bunt attempt.
Abbey Warren collected an RBI of her own when she plated Breley Webb. The aforementioned Callie Busby who reached base safely on the attempted sac bunt, came around on an RBI single off the bat of Raley Long.
That gave Rylee Willmon, who pitched a no hit shut out gem her last time out, a three run cushion before she even entered the circle.
In the second inning, the Aggies tacked on another run when Alyssa Osterdock tagged up and scored on an Erycka Pierce sac fly.
The CU scoring streak continued into the third inning when Raley Long collected her second RBI of the day when Khmari Edwards crossed home plate to give the Black and Gold a five run lead.
Rylee Willmon surrendered a two run home run and a solo shot on back-to-back at bats, cutting into the Aggies lead. Willmon got out of the jam with only the three runs on her resume keeping a two run CU lead in hand. Willmon finished her night with four innings pitched, three runs allowed, five hits surrendered and a strikeout.
The Aggies scoring ended in the seventh inning where Callie Busby hit an RBI double and later came around to score herself thanks to an RBI double from Khmari Edwards. Edwards scored by rushing home via a wild throw from the RSU catcher prompted by Raley Long's stolen base attempt.
Bethany Hines took over for Willmon in the fifth inning. Hines carved up the Rogers State batters in her three innings of works, featuring five strikeouts and just one hit allowed.
The Cameron Aggies finished the Edmond Festive 4-1, allowing their season record to improve to 8-3.
Up next for the Black and Gold, they take the field at home for the first time all season when they welcome in Tarleton State to kick off Lone Star Conference play at McMahon Field and Athletics Center. The three game series starts on Friday with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m.
