WICHITA FALLS, Texas –
Allison Duffin and
Iona Roska both shot 75's on Monday as the Aggie women's golf team is currently in second at the MSU Texas Invitational after one round of play.
Round 1 Results
Cameron went out and shot a 312 during the first round on Monday, trailing leader Oklahoma Christian by eight strokes as they eagles carded a 304 with three players currently in the top-10.
Duffin and Roska's 18-hole scores of 75 have then tied for third place individually, just one stroke back of the individual leaders. Duffin finished the first round with 11 pars and two birdies, while her teammate Roska had 12 pars and two birdies as well.
Kennedy Wheeler is currently in the top-20 carding an 80 in the first round, while
Kyndall Morgan shot 82 and
Gerdur Ragnarsdottir had the throw away score with an 89 on Monday. As a team, Cameron recorded 44 pars and nine birdies, which was second to only OC.
The Aggies also had three individuals competing on Monday, with
Molleejo Crain shooting an 87 and
Sabrina Stedman and
Hayden Brewer both carding 90+ scores through 18 holes.
While trailing OC for first by a significant margin, CU leads third place team MSU by just two strokes, while Angelo State is currently in fourth and Texas A&M-Commerce and Regis are tied for fifth.
CU's top players trail MSU's Juanita Gomez and the Eagles' Shaley Goad had tournament low rounds of 74 on Monday, while OC's Abigail Rigsby is tied for third with Roska and Duffin.
The Aggies will look to continue their strong play and chase down Oklahoma Christian on Tuesday as they play in the second and final round of the invite.
