LAWTON, Okla. – After a 1-3 start to the 2019 season, the Cameron University volleyball team faces another weekend of four matches as they compete in the Southeastern Oklahoma State Classic, Sep. 13-14.

About the Aggies:
The Aggies went 1-3 at the Missouri Southern Invitational for their first matches of the season. They fell to Wayne State, MSSU, and Black Hills State, and beat Colorado State-Pueblo 3-1. Over that four-match span, CU averaged 11.0 kills per set while hitting .174 on the attack. They also recorded 10.3 assists per set, totaled 31 aces, and 23.0 total blocks.
Cameron had four players record 20 or more kills total during the first weekend.
Walia Franklin led the way with 33 after a 16 kill performance against Black Hills State. Franklin,
Arianna Navarrete, and
Sarah Wright all averaged over 2.0 kills per set, while
Riana Blount and
Shantalle Demirjian averaged over 1.30 kills per set.
Katherine Manning and
Desiree Marmolejo split the setter duties, with Manning averaged 5.93 assists and 2.33 digs per frame and Marmolejo averaging and 2.93 assists and 2.00 digs. Blount currently leads the team with 11.0 total blocks while Franklin has 9.0,
Caitlyn Henderson has 8.0, and Demirjian has 7.0.
Scouting Southeastern Oklahoma:
- The Savage Storm went 0-4 in their first weekend of play, falling to Angelo State, Fort Lewis College, Texas A&M-Kingsville, and New Mexico Highlands.
- They averaged 9.7 kills and 8.1 assists per set and hit .076 during the four-match span.
- SEOSU has totaled 16.0 total blocks and 23 service aces this season.
- Malaysia Burns leads the team with 35 kills, while Hannah Grant has 34 and Aleksandra Rodic has 30.
- Setter Arabella Bourchard averaged 11.33 assists per set and Jodi Dixon averaged 7.67 over the first four matches.
- Defensively, Rodic and Burns lead the squad with 6.0 blocks each and libero Caitlyn Crosby averages 5.00 digs per set. Â
Scouting Arkansas-Monticello:
- UAM had a 1-3 record at the Miner Invitational, beating Auburn-Montgomery and losing to Missouri-St. Louis, Missouri S&T, and UAFS.
- Last weekend, they averaged 10.1 kills and 9.3 assists while recording an attack percentage of .108.
- Arkansas-Moticello totaled 26.0 blocks as a team and notched 25 aces from the service line.
- Leslie Polanco and MarKayla Dickie led the UAM offense with Polanco averaging 3.39 kills per set with a .221 hitting percentage and Dickie recording 4.90 kills per set.
- Katie Pearson totaled 148 assists at an 8.22 per set clip through the first four matches.
- Dickie also led the squad with 14 total blocks while Taylor Calhoun added 13.
Scouting Central Oklahoma:
- The Bronchos started the season on a three match winning streak, but has lost their lost two contests, including their home opener against Oklahoma Baptist on Wednesday.
- UCO averages almost 14 kills a set to go along with 11.7 assists per frame, while hitting over .230 for an attack percentage.
- They have 18.5 total blocks and 23 service aces as a team.
- A trio of UCO players have over 40 kills so far this season, as Bailey Combs, Lauren Jenkins, and Amanda Desch all average over 2.60 kills per set.
- Desch, who is the team's setter, has totaled 130 assists, averaging 7.22 per set.
- Malia Kaaiohelo leads UCO with 13.0 total blocks and Desch is second on the team with 9.0.

Scouting East Central:
- ECU has gone 0-5 to start the 2019 season, losing all four matches at the PSU Gorilla Classic and at DBU on Tuesday.
- The Tigers have won just one set so far this season and are averaging just 8.8 kills and 7.7 assists per set.
- Defensively, they have 20.0 total blocks and, from the service line, they have 28 aces through five matches.
- Senior Kaitlyn Coffey leads the team with 41 kills and has a .180 attack percentage.
- Sydney Dungen averages a team-high 6.00 assists per set and libero Kasey Beeler leads ECU with 3.31 digs per set.
- Sophomore Kellie Smith has 11.0 total blocks on the year, while Coffey and Zaniya Norvell both have 6.0.
