LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron University volleyball team kicks off the Lone Star Conference season at home this weekend as they host Midwestern State on Friday and Texas Woman's on Saturday.

About the Aggies:
The Aggies enter league play with a 3-5 record on the season and are coming off a 2-2 Southeastern Classic last weekend with wins against Arkansas-Monticello and East Central. The Black and Gold are averaging 11.2 kills and 10.2 assists per set while hitting .167 on the attack. They are also racking up 1.3 service aces per frame and, in eight matches, have totaled 49.0 total blocks.
Sophomore
Shantalle Demirjian had a big weekend in Durant, totaling 48 kills and 26 digs over the four-match span. The Las Vegas, Nev. Native leads CU with 2.79 kills per set on the year and has five service aces, which is second to freshman
Arianna Navarrete, who has 12; Navarrete also averages 2.76 kills per frame.
Cameron uses a two-setter system with
Katherine Manning and
Desiree Marmolejo running the offense. Manning averages 5.52 assists and 2.69 digs, while Marmolejo averages 3.59 assists and 1.83 digs per set. The duo have also combined for nine service aces this season.
Defensively, four Aggies have totaled over 10 blocks this season, led by
Riana Blount, who has 24.0 in 27 sets played.
Walia Franklin has added 19 blocks,
Caitlyn Henderson has 17.0, and Demirjian has 14.0 total blocks on the year. Additionally,
Peyton Little records over 4.2 digs per set and
Sam Friedl averages 4.0 digs per set.
Scouting the Mustangs:
- Midwestern State enters the matchup with the Aggies on a four game losing streak and are 2-6 on the year.
- Statistically, MSU matches CU with just over 11 kills and 10 assists per set while also hitting over .160 on the attack.
- The Mustangs average 1.5 total blocks per frame, led by senior Sarah Eakin, who has 28 blocks on the year.
- Eakin also leads the squad with 2.47 kills per set while hitting .358, and Rockelle Gholson is second on the team with 2.06 kills per frame.
- MSU also uses a two-setter system, with Sarah Glawe totaling 169 assists and Kaitlyn Masseth adding 104 helpers.
Scouting the Pioneers:
- The Texas Woman's Pioneers are 4-4 on the year after going 2-2 last weekend with wins against Henderson State and Harding.
- TWU's offense averages 12.3 kills and 10.7 assists while hitting almost .190 on the attack, led by a four players with over 2.00 kills per set each.
- Courtney Noel leads the way 73 kills on the season, Tabitha Spray has added 70, Trixie Oche has 67, and Addison Mulroney has added 63.
- Like the Aggies, the Pioneers had two players with over 100 assists so far this season, Katy Ranes with 138 and Bailey Wozniak with 116.
- Defensively, libero Bailey French leads the squad with 4.55 digs per set and Oche and Noel have over 30.0 total blocks each.
