Aggies continue to roll, extend winning streak to nine

EDMOND, Okla. -- The Cameron softball team continue to roll, as they extend their winning streak to nine games; Bethany Hines deals in the game one, as Breley Webb powers game two win.

The Cameron Aggies started the second leg of the Edmond Regional Festival on Friday with a pair of games, starting with Fort Hays State. The Black and Gold used a gem from Bethany Hines to extend their winning streak with the 1-0 victory.

The senior pitcher, who owns the program record for wins, notched another one against the Tigers. She tossed a complete game shutout, allowing just five hits. Hines struck out nine FHSU batters in the contest.

Game one was defined in the circle, as the Black and Gold offense was only able to provide Hines with one run worth of support. That run came along when Callie Busby earned a bases-loaded walk in the third, which plated her sister Brenna Busby. The two sides were only able to collect ten hits combined.

In game two, the Aggies got a rematch with the Central Oklahoma Bronchos. After dropping the first meeting of the season against UCO earlier this month, Cameron bounced back in the second go around with a 3-2 win.

C. Busby again got the scoring started for CU as she knocked a two-run RBI double into center field to plate B. Busby and Khmari Edwards in the top half of the first inning.

The Bronchos would not have an answer until the third frame when star senior
Hazel Puempel slapped her own RBI double to the center-field wall to pull the Bronchos within a run. UCO tied the ball game at two runs a piece when Lexy Dobson clubbed a solo shot in the fifth inning.

CU waited until the top of the final inning to pull ahead again when Webb earned an RBI single to plate Kaylyn Smith

The sophomore Webb was also credited with a win in this contest, as she pitched three clean innings, only allowing one hit.

Cameron continues the Edmond Regional Festival with 10 a.m. rematch against Nebraska-Kearney in Oklahoma City, Okla. before returning to Edmond, Okla. at 2 p.m. for a  clash with the Pittsburg State Gorillas, the third this season.
