Aggies and Bison meet up in the Aggie Gym

LAWTON – For the first time since 1998, Cameron and Oklahoma Baptist battle each other for the Aggies' third home game of the week.

After going 0-2 to open their week, the Aggie women's basketball team looks to stay above .500 on the season as they host Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Aggie Gym.

STARTING 5
1. Cameron suffered back-to-back losses to open the week, losing to Central Oklahoma on a buzzer-beater on Tuesday and then getting out-matched by Southwestern Oklahoma State on Wednesday.
2. The Aggies got off to a hot start offensively, averaging over 87 points and shooting over 44 percent from the floor in their first five games, however, the last two have seen CU held to point totals of 63 and 72 and under 35 percent shooting.
3. Despite a couple of poor shooting games, Maighan Hedge still leads the Lone Star Conference in scoring, averaging 22.1 points per game after outings of 19 and 17 points earlier this week.
4. Oklahoma Baptist opened their season with exhibition losses to Texas A&M and Texas, and after starting the regular season with losses to Pittsburg State and Washburn, they have won two straight with a 14-point win over Northeastern state and a 21-point win over Midwestern State.
5. Lithuanian forward Andreja Peciuraite is nearly averaging a double-double for the Bison, scoring 14 points per game and grabbing nine rebounds on average while also shooting 69 percent from the field.

ABOUT THE AGGIES
The start of the week did not go in the Aggies favor as their 0-2 slate moved them to 4-3 on the young season, just one loss away from .500. After entering the week averaging over 87 points per game with a scoring margin of over 20 points, they are now averaging 81.7 points with an 11.3 average scoring margin. Cameron is still shooting over 41 percent from the floor and 36 percent from three while making 11.1 triples per outing. Turnovers forced averages out to 22 with 12.6 of those coming on steals while also resulting in an average of 23.3 points off turnovers. The Aggies struggles remain on the glass, giving up a margin of 11.5 rebounds per game, which was evident against UCO and SWOSU.

Hedge is one of four CU players averaging over 10 points during the team's first seven games. She is also recording 2.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 2.4 steals per contest while shooting nearly 50 percent from the floor and 44 percent from three. Stephanie Peterson leads CU with 7.3 rebounds on average while also putting up clips of 3.7 assists, 2.7 steals, and 14.4 points. Additionally, Korie Allensworth is averaging 12 points and four rebounds and Katie King is averaging 10.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and three steals for Cameron.

SCOUTING THE BISON
At 2-2 on the season, Oklahoma Baptist is averaging 67 points per game with an average scoring margin of 3.5 over their opponents. They are shooting just under 39 percent from the floor, but get it done mainly in inside the perimeter, making 4.8 triples per game at a 35 percent clip. They do, however, excel at getting to the charity stripe, making 17.8 foul shots per outing at a 75.5 percent clip. OBU also out-rebounds their opposition by an average of 1.5 boards and turn the ball over just 15.3 times per outing while forcing 17 turnovers on average.

Behind Peciuraite, two other Bison are scoring in double-figures heading into the matchup with the Aggies. Kalifa Ford, another talented post, is averaging 13.8 points and 8.8 rebounds, while Mallory Lockhart averages 11.5 points and is shooting 46 percent from three with 12 made shots from beyond the arc. Senior guard Jaylin Stapleton leads the team with 3.3 assists and 2.5 steals per outing while also averaging 9.5 points and 5.3 rebounds.
