Aggies host UAFS and Oklahoma Christian for final homestand

LAWTON – The Cameron volleyball program will honor their two seniors, Desiree Marmolejo and Sydney Bolin, as they play their final two home matches of the 2021 season this weekend.

The Aggies have just three more matches on the docket for this fall, with the first two coming on their home court against UAFS on Friday and Oklahoma Christian on Saturday, which will serve as the team's Senior Day, taking place after the match against the Lady Lions.

LAST TIME OUT
Cameron was on the road last weekend taking on St. Mary's and St. Edward's, which resulted in two more losses. After a three-set defeat by the Rattlers on Friday night, the Black and Gold were just a point away from taking a 2-1 lead over the Hilltoppers and carrying the momentum into the fourth set. However, the point swung the way of the home team and resulted in a SEU win in the fourth to take the match. Arianna Navarrete led Cameron with a career-best 19 kills, adding two aces, four blocks, and 12 digs in the effort.

ABOUT THE AGGIES
The two loses last weekend leaves CU with just three more chances to earn their first Lone Star Conference win of the year and snap their current 24 match losing skid. Despite their record, Cameron ranks second in the LSC with 173 total blocks this season and is top-10 in total attacks and service aces. Navarrete is top-10 in the league in total kills (237) and total attacks (790). The third-year player also leads the team with 25 aces and averaged 2.30 digs and 0.45 blocks per frame. Jessica Lipkit's 76 total blocks is third most in the LSC and leads a group of five Aggies with over 30 blocks this season. Desiree Marmolejo leads the setter group with 4.46 assists per set while Kendall Kilchist and Noemie Narbonne both average over 3.00 per frame.

SCOUTING UAFS
A team that has been at the top of the conference since joining in 2019, the Lady Lions have struggled in 2021, posting a 12-12 record with a 7-6 conference mark this season; just two of their wins have come on the road this year. Offensively, UAFS averages 11.6 kills and 10.9 assists per set while hitting .180 on the attack. They also block 2.0 balls per frame and average 1.8 service aces. Freshman Reagan March leads the attack with 224 kills to go alogn with 27 aces. Sophomore Hannah Holland leads UAFS with 3.14 points per set, totaling a team-high 44 aces and 71 blocks. Chyra Tompson has a team-best 82 blocks this fall and setters Chloe Price (419 assists) and Chloe Alderson (322 assists) orchestrate the attack.

SCOUTING OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN
In the first year under former West Texas A&M head coach Jason Skoch, Oklahoma Christian is 7-17 with a 3-10 mark against league opponents. All seven of their wins have come at the Eagles' Nest as they are 0-9 at opposing venues. OC averages 11.4 kills and 10.4 assists while hitting .164 on the attack. Defensively, the have racked up 155 total blocks and average 1.4 points per set from the service line. The Eagles spread the attack around, with six players over 100 kills this fall, led by Morgan Demuth with 176. Kyla Chavez averages 4.89 assists and Spencer Plato racks up 6.58 assists per frame while combining for 33 aces from the setter spot. Demuth and Kelsie Schiefelbein anchor the front row with 67 and 61 blocks respectively.
