Aggies fall to Lady Chaps despite Hedge's record-breaking night

LUBBOCK - The Cameron Aggies traveled down to Lubbock Texas to take on the top-ranked Lubbock Christian Lady Chaparrals, falling 75-61 despite good bookends, and broken records.

The Cameron Aggies continued their season on Wednesday with a road trip to Texas taking on Lubbock Christian University for the final contest before a long layoff. The Aggies upset bid started strong with a 13-3 run out of the gate, four of the Aggies' five starters were on the scoreboard before the first media timeout of the contest.

CU knew they would fight with their hands when testing the number one ranks Lady Chaps who took advantage of a CU scoring lull in the second and third frames. After the Lady Chaps trimmed the once nine-point black and gold lead to one the stifling LCU defense held CU to just eight second-quarter points, allowing the Lady Chaps to grow a 21 point lead. The Aggies would respond in the fourth quarter cutting the LCU lead to eight points before eventually falling 75-61.

Maighan Hedge dished out a pair of assists giving her the all-time career mark at Cameron in that category with her 306th assist as an Aggie. The Melbourne, Aus. native passes Brittany Cooksey as the assist leader in school history.. Hedge finished 11 points and four rebounds.

The Black and Gold were led in scoring by Whitney Outon who chipped in 15 points, hauled in eight rebounds, and collected a trio of assists. Katie King was the third and final Aggie in double-figures pouring in 13 on her way to three rebounds and two assists.

Stephanie Peterson continues to fill up the stat sheet with an all-around game contributing eight points, as many rebounds, and two assists in 34 minutes of action.

The Aggies fall to 5-5 and are still in search of their first road win of the year. Up next, the Cameron Aggies return to the hardwood on New Year's Eve for a clash with Oklahoma Christian in Edmond, Oklahoma. Tip-Off is set for 5:30 p.m. on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network.
