Men's basketball kicks off league play at OC and UAFS

LAWTON – The Aggie men's basketball team looks to get back on track as they begin Lone Star Conference play this weekend on the road against the Eagles and Lions.

Cameron officially begins conference play this weekend when they visit Oklahoma Christian on New Year's Eve, Friday, at 7:30 p.m. and then UAFS on Sunday, Jan. 2, at 4 p.m.. They will be looking to snap a two-game skid after dropping a non-conference game earlier this week.

STARTING 5
1. Cameron returned to action Wednesday night after over two weeks away from competition, falling 71-59 to Rogers State after a cold-shooting performance that saw the Aggies go just 4-25 from three-point range.
2. Marques Warrior Jr. scored 13 points and had four assists against the Hillcats, marking the fifth game this season that the second-year guard has had at least five points and four assists.
3. Despite being just 3-7 to start the season, Oklahoma Christian has five players averaging over nine points per game, including Drew Tennial, averaging 12.6 points, and Karlyn Kenner, averaging 10.9 points for the Eagles.
4. The Lions, 6-5, handed UT Tyler their first loss on Dec. 16 and then lost by three to No. 21 Texas A&M-Commerce on Dec. 20 in their third-year under head coach Jim Boone.
5. Matthew Wilson has been on fire this fall, leading the team and the conference with 21.9 points per game while shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 45.3 percent from three.

They also average 16.3 free throws per game, which they knock down at a 74.5 percent clip. On the other side of the floor, teams are scoring 77.6 points on CU while shooting 44 percent from the field but just 30.7 percent from three.
