Cameron track and field opened their outdoor season at the Ice Breaker Classic last Saturday, and this weekend a trio of Aggies,
James Majenge,
Chris Dunn, and
Jason Cousineau, competed in another meet against a mix of Division I and Division II runners.
Just a week after winning the 5000-meter event and being named the Lone Star Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week in his first taste of competition since last winter, Majenge put up another first place finish, winning the 1500-meter race with a time of 3:57.88. He bested the second place finisher from Texas Tech, Timothy Gregg, by just over three seconds and was just eight seconds away from a NCAA DII provisional mark.
Dunn competed in the 3000-meter steeplechase, in which he finished sixth in the event with a time of 9:55.19. He finished behind four runners from ACU and the LSC's 2020 Cross Country Individual Champion, Nicodemus Rotich from Texas A&M-Commerce, who won the event.
Cousineau competed in the 5000-meter race, finishing in eighth place with a time of 15:42.38. He finished behind a quartet of TTU Red Raiders, one ACU Wildcat, and one runner from both UT Tyler and Lubbock Christian.
The small-squad meet will be followed by an even smaller squad event for Cameron on Thursday, March 25, as Majenge competes at the University of Texas Relays in Austin, Texas. The rest of the Aggies will be in action the next day, competing in the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational in Shawnee, Okla., March 26-27. Â
