Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Aggie men dominate DBU, women fall 4-3

LAWTON – The Cameron men won their third straight Lone Star Conference match with a 7-0 win over DBU, while the Aggie women fell 4-3 to the Lady Patriots.

For the second-straight day, the Aggie tennis programs split a pair of conference matches at home. The men's team defeated rival Midwestern State 6-1 on Friday, while the women lost by the same score to the Mustangs. On Saturday, the men dominated their opponent, DBU, while the Aggie women fell in a tough 4-3 match.

Cameron's men earned their second straight win and seventh straight against Division II opponents to move to 8-5 overall and 3-0 in conference matches. The win against DBU opened with all three doubles matched being decided by a score of 6-3, with Oscar del Granado and Bruno Vietri winning at one and Joao Duleba and Maycon Dias winning at two to secure the doubles point for the Aggies.

All but one of the singles matches were two-set wins for the Black and Gold. Duleba, Carlos Vidal, Alvaro Chavez, del Granado, and Dias all made quick work of their opponents, while Vietri needed three sets to earn his win at one (6-4, 4-6, 10-4).

With their third straight loss, the Cameron women fall to 7-5 on the season and are now 1-2 in league play. CU fell behind against the Patriots after losing in two of the three doubles matchups. Their lone win came on court two, where Karolina Glowinska and Melany Opolz won 6-3.

Cameron's three wins came on courts four through six. Opolz defeated her opponent on six 6-1, 6-3, while Alex Lopez also won in two sets on four, 6-0, 6-2. The third point came on court five, where Julianne Garcia responded from a one-set deficit to win 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.

The Lone Star Conference stretch continued for the Aggies next weekend as both squads take on UT Tyler in Tyler, Texas on Saturday, April 3. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
