ALAMOSA, Colo. – Cameron women's basketball team dropped the Saturday evening matchup to Adams State 101-66 inside of the Plachy Hall.
The Aggies fall to 1-1 on the season, heading into their home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 5:30 pm.
Alena Wilson turned in a team-high 13 points, 5-of-8 from the floor. LaKya Leslie pitched in 10 points off the bench for CU. Korie Allensworth and Katie King recorded nine points.
Kiara Lovings finished with seven points, Kloe Heidebrecht and Karley Miller added five, Taliyah Johnson scored three, Kailyn Lay and Hallie Horton added two, and Lindsey Waits had one.
King and Lay dished out two assists, while Alannah Gillespie, Horton, Miller, and Wilson had one.
Wilson grabbed seven rebounds, Horton finished with three, Allensworth, Gillespie, Lay, Leslie, Lovings, and Miller snagged two, and Heidebrecht, Johnson, King, and Waits pulled down one.
ASU opened the game with a 5-0 lead and stretched it to double-digits at 13-3 with 5:35 left in the quarter. The Grizzlies would extend their lead to 24-10 at the end of the quarter. Wilson led the Black-and-Gold with five points in the quarter.
CU started the second quarter with an 8-2 run to cut the score to 26-14 after a Wilson layup. Adams State would shoot 8-for-13, knocking down three from beyond the arc to stretch their lead to 19 points at the half.
In the third quarter, both teams would turn in their highest-scoring frame of the game, with ASU winning the quarter 31-21, and they head to the final frame leading 78-49. The Aggies spread out their scoring in the stanza; King led the team with seven points, Allensworth and Wilson added four, while Johnson and Miller had three.
The Grizzlies would go on to win the fourth, 23-17, to defeat Cameron 101-66.
The Aggies will open their home slate on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 5:30 pm, when they host Harding University of the Great American Conference inside the Aggie Gym. CU trails the overall record 8-5, dropping the last two games, with the last coming in 2018 in Lawton, HU won 87-73.
