Aggies Return Home to Finish 2022

LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron men's basketball team returns home to wrap up the fall portion of their schedule, hosting four games over the last week. Head Coach Kevin O'Connor and the Aggies will look to snap the current losing streak as they play host to St. Mary's Saturday and then St. Edwards the following Monday.

On Tuesday, CU will seek revenge against Northwestern Oklahoma State in a rematch from last month's non-conference road matchup, which the Aggies lost to the Rangers in Alva by three.

STARTING 5

1. Cameron fell 78-74 to Dallas Baptist last Saturday in Dallas, falling to 0-2 in the LSC. Caylen Goff-Brown and Andre Washington would score a team-high 19 points, while Jaden Okon recorded 18 points and 11 rebounds.

2. The Black-and-Gold have four individuals averaging double-digits, led by Reggie Prudhomme tallying 11.6 ppg, DeSean Munson and Jaden Okon scoring 10.3 ppg, and Jaylan Thomas recording 10.1 ppg.

3. The Aggies lead the LSC in field goal percentage, three-point field goal percentage shooting, and defensive rebounding. CU is shooting 48.4 percent from the floor, 40.4 percent from beyond the arc, and they grab 28.0 defensive rebounds a game.

4. The Rattlers have started the season 3-2 and are in the midst of a three-game home winning streak after picking wins over Eastern New Mexico and Western New Mexico last weekend. The pair of Caleb Jordan and Tyler Caron leads StMU, averaging double-figures. Jordan scores 16.4 ppg, and Caron averages 14.6 ppg.
5. The Hilltoppers have won seven straight games, after dropping their season opener. SEU comes into the weekend ranked seventh in the South-Central Region.

LAST TIME OUT:

The Aggies fell 78-74 to Dallas Baptist last Saturday in Dallas, falling to 0-2 in LSC play. Cameron would find themselves in an early deficit, going into halftime trailing by 14. CU would win the second half by 10 points, but that was not enough to overcome the early hole. Caylen Goff-Brown and Andre Washington would score a team-high 19 points, while Jaden Okon recorded 18 points and 11 rebounds.


SCOUTING THE AGGIES:
Cameron now sits at 2-5 and 0-2 in the LSC after falling to DBU last game. They are averaging 75.3 points per game while shooting 48.4 percent from the floor and 40.4 percent from three. Both of which are the best in the LSC. They also grab a conference-best 28.0 defensive rebounds a game. CU makes 11.9 free throws per game and hits them at 
a 72.2 percent clip. Defensively, the Aggies are giving up 78.0 points to their opposition while allowing them to shoot 43.0 percent from the field and 31.2 percent from three. Cameron has four averaging double-figures, led by Reggie Prudhomme (11.6 ppg), DeSean Munson (10.3 ppg), Jaden Okon (10.3 ppg), and Thomas (10.1 ppg).

SCOUTING THE RATTLERS:

StMU comes to Lawton on a three-game winning streak after knocking off Eastern and Western New Mexico last week. The Rattlers beat ENMU 76-66 last game, shooting 49 percent from the floor. Tyler Caron scored a game-high 29 points. The significant difference was the 22-for-28 shooting StMU shot from the free throw line, taking 17 more attempts from the charity stripe while being outscored in every other aspect of the game. Caleb Jordan and Caron are leading the charge for the Rattlers averaging 16.4 ppg and 14.6 ppg, both of which rank in the top 10 of the LSC. Diego Gonzalez's 2.2 steals per game is the second most in the conference.

LAST TIME AGAINST STMU:

Cameron squandered an early 12-point lead, falling to St. Mary's 79-68. The Aggies would go cold in the second half, which allowed the Rattlers to take control. Colt Savage would lead Cameron with 23 points, going 8-for-14 from the field, 4-of-7 from three, and 3-of-4 from the charity stripe. Ryan Leonard led the Rattlers with 19 points, scoring 10 straight during their second-half run. Tyler Caron added 14.


Scouting the Hilltoppers:

SEU comes into the weekend riding a seven-game win streak and sits seventh in the South Central Region with a 7-1 record and 2-0 in the LSC. The Hilltoppers knocked off WNMU 86-79 last Saturday. Six different players scored 10 points or more in the win, led by Blake Nielsen with 18 points. Jeff Gary scored 16, shooting 10-for-10 from the free-throw line. Gary is the Hilltoppers leading scorer with 14.6 ppg, Mason Hix and Uche Dibiamaka average 11.6 ppg and 11.1 ppg. Carson Tuttle is second in the LSC with 4.8 assists per game.


Last time against SEU:

The last time the two teams met up was in 2020. Cameron fell to No. 7 St. Edward's 88-76. Kinyon Parker and Andrew Nguyen combined for 34 points, both with career-highs in the contest. The Black-and-Gold defense generated 13 turnovers, scoring 28 points off them. They held the Hilltoppers to just 27 percent from deep, which was SEU's second-lowest mark from a distance this season. Ashton Spears led six Hilltoppers with double figures with 18 points.


WHO HAS NEXT:
The Aggies will continue their home stretch to finish the year as Cameron plays host to St. Edwards on Monday, Dec. 12 at 7:30 pm, Northwestern Oklahoma State on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 pm, and will finish with Midwestern State on Dec. 17 at 3:00 pm.
