PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Cameron track and field teams saw more program records fall this weekend as they wrapped up the regular season at the Pittsburg State hosted Gorilla Classic.
In their final tune-up meet before the Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships, the Aggies opened their weekend with the women's distance medley relay team of
Genevieve Young,
Serah Timbwol,
Arian Spears, and
Daesha Brathwaite setting a school record with a time of 13:13.12.
Also on the women's side of things,
Belle Vignes set a program record with a time of 19:17.90 in the 5000-meter race and then in the 3000-meter event with a time of 10:46.88.
Alexis Chao placed seventh in the pole vault with a mark of 3.06m and
Hailey Sutton got 15th with a mark of 2.91m.
For the CU men,
Clement Carre finished in 26th and had a school record time of 1:55.37 in the 800 with
Madison Edwards and
Nathan Kemp also finishing in the top-50 of the event.
Edward Kipruto placed 36th in the 5000-meter race with a time of 15:32.83 while
Jason Cousineau had a personal best time of 8:57.78 in the 3000-meter event.
Cameron closed the meet with their 4x400 team of Edwards, Kemp,
Kevin Garcia, and
Lamon Miles running a program record time of 10:36.15.
After facing some of the top programs in Division II this weekend in Kansas, the Aggies have a better idea of how they will fare at the LSC Championships, which will take place in Lubbock, Texas two weeks from Friday, Feb. 25-26.
