Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Schreiner scores 18 in loss to UT Tyler

LAWTON – Cameron's second half struggles continue as they lost a first half lead and dropped a 72-53 game to UT Tyler on Tuesday night in the Aggie Gym.

The Aggie men's basketball team have had a hard time closing out games this season and that narrative continued on National Division II Day (2/22/22) in the Aggie Gym as their early eight-point lead disappeared in the second half against the Patriots.

Cameron battled back and forth with Tyler in the opening minutes of Tuesday's contest. Darius Green led a surge that saw the Aggies go up by eight points with 6:01 to play in the half. UTT's Micah Fuller answered by leading his team on a run to go up by one with 2:25 to play. A Brock Schreiner jumper with 1:33 to go before the break put the Aggies up 28-27, which was the last score of the opening 20 minutes.

UT Tyler opened the second half on an 11-0 run to go up 38-28 with 16:44 to go. The Aggies never got the lead back to under eight points as they shot just 26 percent from the field and 3-13 from three in the second 20 minutes of play. On the other end of the floor, UT Tyler shot 67 percent from the field and made a quartet of shots from long range to secure the 72-53 win.

Schreiner led the Aggies with 18 points, going 6-11 from the field and 4-8 from three. Colt Savage added 10 points while Connor Slater finished with seven points and five rebounds. Green led CU with seven boards to go along with four points off the Aggie pine.

Cameron shot 32 percent from the field, 28 percent from three, and 91 percent from the charity stripe in the loss. They also turned the ball over 15 times, resulting in 22 Patriot points, but out-rebounded their opponent 35-34 with 13 offensive boards.

Fuller led the Patriots with 23 points as the team shot nearly 50 percent from the field, 24 percent from three, and 90 percent from the foul line.

With their third-straight loss, the Aggies fall to 4-17 overall and 2-12 in league play with two games left on the season schedule. The first of those games is on Thursday, Feb. 24, against Texas A&M International at 7:30 p.m.
