SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Cameron women's golf team opened the Rattler Invitational on Monday with a first round score of 324.

What was originally scheduled to be a 54-hole tournament was cut to just 36 holes with overnight temperatures causing a frost delay on Monday morning at the Dominion Country Club.

The Aggies find themselves in ninth place in a loaded tournament after their first round 36-over par round. They are currently 32 strokes back of the leader of the field West Texas A&M, who shot a 292 on Monday.

Senior Iona Roska had the low round of the day, shooting a 78 with five birdies on her scorecard. She is currently tied for 25th on the player leaderboard. Ellie Fellers and Ashley Davis both carded scores of 81 on Monday while Gerdur Ragnarsdottir and Emma Englefield both shot 84 in the opening round of the St. Mary's hosted event.

Cameron totaled 11 birdies as a team during the firs 18 holes while putting in a total of 40 pars. Roska's five under-par holes tied for the field lead while Fellers had three of her own. Davis had a team-high nine pars during the opening round.

All eight of the teams currently ahead of the Aggies are ranked in the top-50 on Golfstat and four are in the top-25. No. 10 WT is one of those as they lead the field by five strokes with host team No. 20 St. Mary's currently in second. Texas A&M International, Henderson State and No. 18 Texas A&M-Commerce make up the rest of the top-5 through 18 holes.

There is currently a six-way tie for first place individually. STMU's Sofia Ruescas, the Lions' Sarah Wongsinth, SWOSU's Megan Brown, International's Sahara Washington, and WT's Gam Songprasert and Hannah Rossmanith all shot even par (72) on Monday.

Cameron will look to close out the tournament strong on Tuesday when they play the final round at the Dominion starting with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
