Davis leads CU in the final round of the RJGA Palm Valley Classic

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Aggie women's golf team finished up their trip to Arizona on Saturday by shooting a 303 in the final round of the RJGA Palm Valley Classic to finish in 11th place. 
 
Cameron, who opened their final tournament before the Lone Star Conference Championship with a 304 in Friday's opening round, finished the 36-hole event with a 607, 19 strokes back of the tournament winner Northeastern State, who moved up three spots in the final round. 
 
The Aggies final round was led by Ashley Davis, who hit four birdies to shoot 71 and finish with a 147, good for a tie for 15th place individually. Davis finished two strokes back of her teammate Iona Roska, who carded a 75 in the final round to finish in a tie for fifth with a 145; Roska had 15 pars and three bogeys during her final round. 
 
Additionally for CU, Ellie Fellers finished her scorecard with a 78 to give her a 159 and Emma Englefield shot 79 on Saturday to finish with a 168. Freshman Malerie Nyberg finished the event one back of Fellers after carding an 83 in the final round of play. 
 
Statistically, Cameron finished with 104 made pars and 16 birdies. Roska led the way with 27 pars including 15 in the final round while Davis had a team-best seven birdies over the 36-hole tournament at the Palm Valley Golf Club. 
 
Fellow Oklahoma school NSU won the event by two strokes after their 290 in the final round. Cal State Monterey Bay came in second and then Cal State East Bay came in third. Colorado Christian claimed a fourth place finish with a 595 while fellow LSC team UT Tyler jumped up eight spots during Tuesday's round to finish in fifth place. 
 
West Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Commerce, and Oklahoma Christina joined the Patriots as LSC schools in the top-10 teams with CU finishing just four strokes back of the Eagles and Lions. 
 
CCU's Faith Kilgore claimed the top medalist honor with a 7-under score of 137 for the 36 holes. She finished six strokes better than the runners-up Jasmin Krishna from CSU-EB and WT's Gam Songprasert.
 
Next up for Christi Williams' squad is the LSC Championship, which will take place April 21-23 at the Squaw Valley Golf Course in Glen Rose, Texas.
