Roska knocks down three birdies in final round of NCAA D2 Regional

STOCKTON, Calif. – Cameron's Iona Roska wrapped up her trip to the NCAA Division II West Regional with a 76 during Wednesday's final round of play to finish with a 231.

Roska, the women's golf program's first student-athlete to make it to the NCAA postseason, had a strong start to the tournament with a 74, but fell in the individual rankings in round two with an 81. She closed things out with a 4-over score of 76 to finish just inside of the top-50 finishers.

A fifth-year senior from Inverness, Scotland, Roska, joined by her head coach Christi Williams, went par, par, bogey in the first three holes before making three straight pars. She then hit her first birdie on 16 before going double and bogey to finish the back-9 with a 39.

After the turn, Roska had a pair of bogeys in the first three holes but bounced back with birdies on six and eight. She could not finish off the stretch even though, going bogey on nine, her last hole of her collegiate career.

Roska finished the tournament with 32 pars and six birdies over her 54 holes of play at the Brookside Country Club.

Four of the top-5 teams to advance to the National Championship are from the Lone Star Conference. DBU went 6-under in the final round to be the top finisher at 864 while Colorado Christian finished second. Texas A&M International, Texas A&M-Commerce, and West Texas A&M rounded out the top-5 qualifiers.

Faith Kilgore from CCU had the low score for an individual, shooting a 207 with a pair of sub-70 scores on her final scorecard. Cal State East Bay's Drishti Karumbaya and Academy of Art's Anahi Servin were the top two finishers not on a qualifying team.

Wednesday's round for Roska put a bookend on one of the best Cameron women's golf careers in program history.
