Cameron Takes Down Western New Mexico at LSC Crossover

DENTON, Texas. – Cameron opens the Lone Star Conference Crossover with a 3-0 victory over Western New Mexico. The Black-and-Gold won their three sets 25-22, 25-23, and 25-19 in the Kitty Magee Arena on the campus of Texas Women's University.
 
Arianna Navarrete and Paris Patterson lead the Aggies, each recording a double-double. Arianna Navarrete posted 15 kills and 10 digs, while Patterson had 10 kills and 12 digs.
 
Jessica Lipkit added four kills, Natalia Araujo had three, and Caitlyn Henderson and Anjolie Navarrete logged one.
 
Cameron collected eight aces, Araujo led the way with three, Anjolie Navarrete chipped in two, and Lipkit, Arianna Navarrete, and Patterson added one.
 
Anjolie Navarrete dished out 25 assists, Araujo and Meagan Jimenez had two, and Lipkit collected one.
 
Jimenez and Patterson led the Aggies with 12 digs, Arianna Navarrete scooped 10, Anjolie Navarrete added nine, Araujo had three, and Lipkit and Jacee Stelter added one.
 
Lipkit recorded six blocks, Araujo added four, and Trinity Maldonado, Anjolie Navarrete, and Stelter had one.
 
The Aggies opened the game early 1-4 hole and continued to trail throughout the first set before a late 9-2 rally would give Cameron the 25-22 set win to open the match. Lipkit was a force early, recording three kills and collecting three blocks during the first set.
 
The second set would open with neither team breaking. The teams would trade points early before a 7-7 tie was broken by WNMU, with an 8-2 run to give them a 14-9 lead. The Black-and-Gold would battle back to knot the score at 17-17 before closing out set two with a 25-23 win.
 
Cameron would use a 6-2 rally to take an early lead in the third set. Using their early lead, the Aggies would cruise to a 20-12 lead and close out the Mustangs with a 25-19 score.
 
The Black-and-Gold will continue in the LSC Crossover with two matches on Friday, Sept. 9. Starting the day with Texas A&M-International at 10 am before closing out the day with the host Pioneers from Texas Women's at 6 pm.
