Villescas Breaks School Record at the JD Martin Indoor Invitational

NORMAN, Okla. – Cameron men's track and field opened their indoor season at the JD Martin Indoor Invitational hosted by Oklahoma University. Joshua Villescas would break the school record in the 60-meters.

Villescas, a junior from Gadsden, NM, ran the 60-meter dash in 7.42 seconds, finishing in 41st place, and Kevin Garcia placed 48th with a time of 7.63 seconds.

In the 200-meters, Villescas came in 18th place with a time of 23.88, and Garcia had a time of 24.02, coming in 19th.

Lamon Miles took eighth place in the 800-meters, and Nathan Kemp placed ninth. Miles had a time of two minutes and 2.45 seconds, while Kemp crossed at 2:04.12.

In the one mile, two Aggies turned in a personal best finish. Brian Easter finished in ninth place with a time of 4:35.05, and Emilien Gaillard came in 12th with a time of 4:39.13. Allen Vasquez had a PR, with a time of 4:47.37, to place 17th, and Daniel Parra finished in 19th, clocking a time of 4:51.27. Nino Heluin's 20th place finish with a time of 4:51.57 was a new personal best time, and Marcon Herrera finished in 23rd with a time of 5:01.69.

Jeppe Sjolin took seventh place in the 3000-meters, clocking a time of nine minutes and 10.44 seconds. Coming in ninth was AJ Espino with a time of 9:25.45, Adrian Alonso Canales placed 10th, clocking a time of 9:33.01, and in 11th place was Edward Kipruto with a time of 9:54.07.

The 4x400 team of Garcia, Villescas, Kemp and Miles finished in 12th place with a time of 3:32.13.

The Black-and-Gold will travel to Wichita, Kan., to compete in the Herm Wilson Invitational hosted by Wichita State on Friday, Jan. 27.
