Cameron Performs well at Herm Wilson Invitational

WICHITA, Kan. – Joshua Villescas of Cameron men's track and field sets a new school record in the 60-meters at the Herm Wilson Invitational, a record that he previously broke last week.

Villescas broke his record by 0.06 seconds in the 60-meter dash after running the race in 7.36 seconds this week, finishing in 45th place.

In his debut as an Aggie, Bryce Johnson broke the school record in the shot put with a total distance of 10.74m.

In the 200-meters, Kevin Garcia came in 20th place with a time of 24.30 seconds.

Lamon Miles made his mark in the record books, breaking the 400-meter record with a time of 52.24 seconds while placing fourth. Villescas turned in an eighth-place finish with a time of 52.75 seconds, and Garcia came in 24th, clocking a finish of 54.07.

Allen Vasquez placed ninth in the 800-meter race with a time of two minutes and 5.75 seconds.

Nathan Kemp had a time of 2:42.25 in the 1000m run to finish in 18th place.

Emilien Gaillard had a second-place finish in the one mile with a time of four minutes and 30.86 seconds, while Vasquez finished 14th with a time of 4:43.48, and Edward Kipruto crossed at the 4:43.77 mark to place 16th. AJ Espino came in 21st, clocking a finish of 4:46.92. In 22nd was Nino Heluin with a time of 4:49.13, Adrian Alonso Canales placed 28th with a time of 4:52.53, and Daniel Parra finished at the 4:56.26 mark in 29th.

Jeppe Sjolin turned in a sixth-place finish in the 3000-meters with a time of 9:10.58, Espino came in 12th with a time of 9:22.79, Canales finished in 13th clocking a time of 9:24.67, Kipruto clocked a time of 9:37.74 in 15th place, Heluin crossed in 16th with a time of 9:45.83, and Parra had a time of 9:52.16 to place 17th.

The Cameron 4x400 team had a time of 3:32.56, finishing in sixth place.

The Aggies will compete in the Gorilla Classic hosted by Pittsburg State and the Ichabod Invitational at Washburn on Feb. 10-11.
