Cameron Suffers Loss to Rams

LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron Aggies falter down the stretch as the Angelo State Rams leave town with a 69-58 win thanks to Kevon Godwin's 22-point outburst. The Aggies could not find enough offense down the stretch despite Colt Savage pouring in 16.

The Black-and-Golf opened their final home stand of the season on Thursday night as they welcomed the Rams to the Aggie Gym.

CU got out and controlled the game early, grabbing a 12-point lead at the seven-minute mark in the first half as they went up on the Rams 20-8. That lead quickly faded as a timeout by ASU helped guide them on a 20-3 run, eventually swelling their lead to 16 points. Before the game was out of reach, the contest saw ten lead changes and four ties. The Aggies held the lead for a minute longer in the contest than Angelo State.

The Black-And-Gold got a huge showing from senior forward Savage, who posted 16 points on three made triples and six rebounds in a game-high 37 minutes of action. Jaden Okon was great off the pine for Kevin O'Connor's squad chipping in 12 points, mainly off reverse layups below the basket, why grabbing five rebounds, swiping a steal, and swatting a shot.

Reggie Prudhomme played an all-around game dropping four assists, hauling in six rebounds, and contributing nine points.

Andre Washington hauled in a game-high seven rebounds in this contest, helping lift the Aggies in the battle on the board, which they won, 37 to 36, but the 13 turnovers doomed Cameron compared to the eight giveaways from ASU. Cameron shot 37 percent from the floor, 26 percent from deep, and 58 percent at the line. The Rams shot 42 percent from the floor and made their three-pointers at a 37 percent clip while making five of their seven free throws.

Up Next, the Aggies will attempt to break this five-game losing streak on senior day, Homecoming, and Hall of Fame celebration on Saturday against UTPB. Tip-Off is set for 3 p.m.
