ARLINGTON, Texas – The Cameron women's tennis program faced off against Division I UT Arlington on Friday to open the season, dropping the contest 6-1.
The Aggies opened the season against the Mavericks on the road.
In the match, UTA started with a 1-0 lead, with Anastasia Uspenskaia and Magda Wawrowska retiring in the first set down 3-2 at one and Lea Manga and Vasilisa Pounova losing 6-1 at two. Karolina Glowinska and Kateryna Rudenko took the matchup at three 6-3, but the Mustangs would receive the point for the doubles.
Cameron's only point came from Manga winning 6-2, 6-4 at the four singles spot. Polunova dropped her match 7-5, 2-6, 1-6 at the one, Uspenskaia fell at the two 1-6, 7-5, 5-7, Rudenko lost 0-6, 3-6 in the matchup at three, Wawrowska was taken down at five 6-4, 4-6, 2-6, and Jenna Goessel fell 3-6, 0-6 at six.
CU will play their first match at home on Sunday, Feb. 19, hosting Cowley County CC at the Streich-Henry Tennis Complex. The men's and women's matches are scheduled to start at noon.
