PORTALES, N.M. – Cameron drops both games of the doubleheader on Sunday to Eastern New Mexico, falling 15-3 in the first game before losing 6-3 in game two at the Greyhound Softball Field.
The Black-and-Gold moves to 12-12 overall and 9-9 in the Lone Star Conference.
The Aggies were held to four hits in game one, with four players collecting a knock. Kelsye Loughman went 1-for-1 with two RBI, a run, a home run, and a walk. Khmari Edwards was 1-for-2 with a run, an RBI, a home run, and a walk, Kylie French was 1-for-3, and Kyndel McDaniel was 1-for-2 with a double.
Josie Swafford started for CU, pitching 2.1 innings, allowing four runs, on four hits, with two strikeouts. Robyn Bales threw 1.1 innings, giving up 11 runs, six earned on nine hits with a strikeout. Jocelyn Bright went 0.1 innings.
Edwards started the game off with a solo home run.
ENMU got two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-1 lead.
Loughman hit a two-run home run to center field, driving in Karis Clark, making it 3-2.
The Greyhounds got two runs in the second and 11 in the fourth before closing it out in the fifth.
In game two, Clark, Edwards, French, Loughman, and Taylor Rowley had a hit. Loughman had the lone RBI for CU, while Boren, Rylee Ross and Rowley scored runs. The Aggies swiped five bases in the game, with Boren, Ashlynn Bruce, Edwards, Ross, and Rowley each stealing a base.
Jocelyn Bright got the ball, throwing 2.2 innings, surrendering six runs on nine hits while striking out three. Stormee Reed pitched the final 3.1 innings allowing two hits.
Cameron will have a short Spring Break before returning to action next Friday to host Texas A&M-Kingsville at 4:00 pm.
