TYLER, Texas – The Cameron women's golf team ranks seventh after the opening day of the King-Alfred Invitational at the Cascades Country Club.
The Aggies recorded a two-round score of 316-317—633. As a team, CU man 90 pars, led by Ellie Fellers with 22 and Ashley Davis connected on 19. The Black-and-Gold sunk seven birdies during the first day. Davis led the team with three, and Fellers and Mollie Wheeler made two. Emma Englefield competing as an individual, hit two birdies.
Fellers ended the first day tied for 19th after shooting a 75-59—154. Davis and Wheeler recorded an 80-79--159, tying for 30th place.
Maria Jose Savoca is tied for 39th after a two-round score of 85-80—165, and Maelle Dreyer is in 43rd place after shooting an 81-89—170.
Englefield had an opening round score of 81, followed by an 84 in the second round to have a 165, tying for 39th place.
Angelo State has a 5-stroke lead on the field, and ASU's Maria Sierra Sanz leads the individuals after shooting a +2.
Round three starts with a shotgun start at 8:00 am, with Aggies teeing off from holes 10-13.
