SHAWNEE, Okla. – AJ Espino of Cameron men's track and field won the 3000-meter steeplechase race on Friday at the Eddie Hurt Jr. Memorial Track in the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational.
Espino finished the race with a time of nine minutes and 52.33 seconds to hold off teammate Adrian Alonso Canales who placed second with a time of 9:55.38.
Lamon Miles placed ninth in the 800-meters clocking a finish of 1:58.23, and Nathan Kemp completed the race at the 1:59.15-mark to place 11th.
In the 1500-meters, Jeppe Sjolin had a time of 4:06.87 placing ninth. Brian Easter and Allen Vasquez finished in 11th and 12, with Easter running the race in 4:11.19, while Vasquez clocked 4:12.70, and Sebastian Padron crossed the finish line in 22nd place with a time of 4:37.16.
Daniel Parra completed the 5000-meter race with a time of 16:00.31 to come in sixth place, while Edward Kipruto placed eighth with a time of 16:06.19, and Marcos Herrera came in 13th clocking a finish of 16:46.21.
The Black-and-Gold will wrap up the OBU Invitational on Saturday.
