LAWTON, Okla. – Josie Swafford goes the distance against Oklahoma Christian, throwing a no-hitter in a 9-0 run-rule game two. Cameron fell in the first game 6-0 on Tuesday afternoon at McMahon Field.
The Aggies improve to 11-9 overall and 8-6 in the Lone Star Conference.
Kaiden Boren went 2-for-3 with a double, Mikayla Richmond was 1-for-2, and Swafford went 1-for-2 with a hit-by-pitch.
Robyn Bales falls to 4-4 on the season after pitching seven innings, giving up six runs, five earned on eight hits while striking out two.
The Eagles would score five runs in the third and another in the seventh to take the first game 6-0.
Swafford started in the circle in game two, going five innings with no hits and four strikeouts while giving up five walks. She moves to 4-5 on the season with the win.
CU's offense collected nine hits. Taylor Rowley was 3-for-3 with two runs, an RBI, and a double. Swafford went 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, a walk, and a stolen base. Karis Clark had a 2-for-3 outing with a run, an RBI, and a double, Khmari Edwards was 1-for-3 with three RBI, a run, and a triple, and Kylie French was 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Kyndel McDaniel had a run, an RBI and a walk, and Boren scored a run and walked once.
The Black-and-Gold scored all nine runs in the second inning. McDaniel earned a bases-loaded walk to score Rowley for the first run. Edwards then cleared the bases with a triple off the wall in left field, driving in Swafford, Clark, and McDaniel. French lined a single back up the box to score Edwards, and Rowley singled through the left side to knock in French. Swafford followed with a single through the left side to score Boren and Rowley. Swafford came in to score the final run on a double from Clark.
Cameron will finish the series with the final game on Wednesday at 2:00 pm, after moving up the first pitch to beat the impending weather in the forecast tomorrow.
