Cameron misses out on NCAA DII Tournament

Frisco, TX – Cameron ends season at 18-12

The Men's Basketball season came to an official end at 10:00 p.m. on Sunday night when the selections for the NCAA DII Tournament was announced.  Cameron was, unfortunately, not selected to fill one of the slots in this year's bracket.

Cameron beat the #1 seed West Texas A&M Buffs to earn a spot in the semifinal round of the LSC Championship.  The Aggies were the first #8 team to win on a neutral site since the conference went to a one-location format in 2008.  It was also the first time since the 2015-16 season that the Aggies had advanced past the first round of the tournament.

Cameron faced Eastern New Mexico in the semifinal round where they would attempt to make it to the Championship round for the first time in school history.  The Aggies would come up short in their quest for the championship as the Greyhounds would come out on top 91-81.

Eastern New Mexico scored 62 of their 91 points inside the paint despite Cameron out rebounding the taller team.  The Aggies held their opponent to just 10 offensive rebounds in the contest.  In the end, the size of the big men from ENMU was too much for the Aggies.

Jaxon Ingram lead things offensively for the Aggies as he bruised and spun his way to 18 points against the taller centers.  Reggie Prudhomme put up 16 points including 6-7 from the free-throw line.  Jaylan Thomas scored all of his 16 points in the second half as he dealt with foul trouble in the first.  Lavell Brodnex narrowly missed out on the double-double as he had 13 points and 9 rebounds.

The Aggies come away from this season with the best record in Men's Basketball since 2016-17 season.  They went farther in the tournament than anyone gave them a chance to, and finished significantly higher than anyone predicted them to.  There was a lot for this team to be proud of this season and the Aggie fans look forward to the future of the program.
