Frisco, TX – Men's Basketball advances to the semifinals.
Cameron traveled to Frisco, TX. on Thursday night to take on the #1 seeded West Texas A&M Buffaloes. The two teams met twice in the regular season. WT won both of those contests. Cameron looked to change that in the opening round of the LSC Championship.
The Buffaloes of West Texas jumped out to an early lead and led by as many as nine points. Cameron fought back and brought the deficit down to one, but couldn't take the lead. The teams would go into halftime at 33-36 in WT's favor. After a back and forth start to the second half, Cameron took control of the game at the 11:00 minute mark. The game looked to be all but won until WT tied the game on a pair of free-throws, sending the game into overtime.
Daylon Andrews started off the overtime period with a huge three-pointer, and the Aggies never looked back as they went on to win 93-89.
Andrews led all scorers with 31 points.
Jaylan Thomas dropped a double-double for the Aggies with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Cameron will play in the semifinal match at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 9. The Aggies will play the winner of the Eastern New Mexico vs Angelo State game.
