LUBBOCK, Texas - The Cameron University volleyball team battled back from an early hole, but their comeback bid against Lubbock Christian came up short on Friday night, 1-3.
The Aggies (4-13, 0-5 LSC) fall to 2-6 in their historical series against the Chaps.
LCU took the first two sets of the match, opening early leads that the Aggies could not close down the stretch, 16-25 and 18-25.
Cameron responded in the third set, battling back-and-forth with the Chaps to a 13-13 score before the Aggies put together a 7-2 run. LCU reeled the set back in with a run of their own, but CU put away the set in extra points, 27-25.
The Aggies jumped to an 11-6 lead to open the fourth set before stretching their advantage to 19-13. The Chaps cut the Aggie lead and closed the match on an 8-1 run, 23-25.
Jennifer Valdez and
Kayla Eggiman led the Aggie offense on the night with 11 and 10 kills, respectively.
Kayla Quintana and
Rachael White provided equal service to the Aggie attack with 21 and 19 assists.
Defensively,
Anastasija Andelic tallied the most digs for the Aggies at 14, while
Presleigh Roest racked up four solo blocks and two block assists.
