Cameron Delivers Solid Showing at Coyote Classic

Salina, Kansas - April 13, 2025

LAWTON, Oklahoma – With the Lone Star Conference Championships just around the corner, the Cameron University Track & Field team took to the track one last time at the Coyote Classic hosted by Kansas Wesleyan University. The meet served as a final opportunity for athletes not competing in Wichita the previous week to improve their marks and several made the most of it.

Personal Bests Highlight the Meet
Freshman Key Auri Hildreth led the charge on the women's side, clocking a personal best of 26.92 in the 200m and leaping 4.71m in the long jump. Teammate Terriona Taylor also hit a new lifetime best in the 400m with a time of 1:01.71.

On the men's side, Arnau Pujols continued his impressive season by setting a personal best in the 1500m, running a strong 3:57.21 and also clocking 49.96 in the 400m. Allen Vasquez added a solid double with 2:00.85 in the 800m and 4:11.54 in the 1500m, while Hugo Kluczkowski posted a 2:04.25 in the 800m and 4:19.10 in the 1500m.
In the sprints, Levi Young ran 12.01 in the 100m and 24.00 in the 200m, with teammate Derek Doan clocking 12.47 in the 100m and jumping 5.59m in the long jump.
In relay action, the women's 4x100m team put together a 56.28 finish, adding to the day's highlights.

Coach Johnson's Take
"This was a last chance meet for us to improve our conference standing primarily with the group that didn't compete at Wichita last week," said Head Coach Zach Johnson. "We had a few personal bests and season bests in a few events as well. The weather hindered some events, but I thought we competed well. Now we have about 10 days to train before we depart for Portales."

Looking Ahead
With the Lone Star Conference Championships set for May 1–3 in Portales, NM, the Aggies will use the next 10 days to sharpen their form. Momentum is building, and if recent performances are any indication, Cameron is gearing up for a strong postseason run.
