LAWTON, Okla - After a fast start at home, the Cameron University cross country teams are set to return to competition on Thursday morning, Sept. 7, as they travel to Wichita Falls, TX to race in the Mustang Derby hosted at Lake Wichita Park.
The women's 4K race will begin at 8:00 a.m., followed by the men's 6K race at 8:30 a.m.
This meet comes just six days after the Aggies' last race, providing another strong early-season test.
Last time out, the squads put in a strong showing at the Aggie Duels. The men finished third-place out of nine teams with 85 points, only beaten by Oklahoma and East Central. Alex Teffu led the way for the Aggies with a 13th-place finish, clocking a time of 25:23.30. Miquel Cruz-Bellido and Victor Ramos also brought home top 20 finishes, with Cruz in 17th (25:43.26) and Ramos in 18th (25:52.35).
The Aggie Women secured a fourth-place finish out of a field of ten teams. Kaat De Staercke and Marie Sommer were the first Aggies across the finish line, both finishing inside the top 10 where De Staercke placed seventh with a time of 18:58.50, while Sommer followed closely in ninth, clocking 19:02.90.
