LAWTON, Okla. - The Cameron University men's and women's cross country teams will kick off their 2025 season by hosting the Aggie Duels on Sept. 5 at the Lawton Soccer Club Field.
The women's 5K race will begin at 8:00 a.m., followed by the men's 8K at 8:25 a.m. Both races will feature a competitive field of 11 teams, including key conference and regional opponents, providing a strong early-season test for the Aggies.
The Aggie women will field a squad with nine returners, headlined by Marie Sommer, recently named the Lone Star Conference Runner to Watch. She will be joined by seniors Tamica Jooste, Evalynn Pedrosa, and juniors Akaya Lightbourne, Gracie Ortiz, and Mireia Planesas. Sophomores Kaat De Staercke, Noa Garcia, and Terrionna Taylor round out the returning core. Newcomers Jodi-Ann Graham and Helene Krome will make their collegiate cross country debuts.
The men's team will feature 13 competitors, including standout newcomer Miquel Cruz-Bellido, a junior transfer who was an NJCAA Division II All-American and ranked fourth in the NJCAA last year. He also earned Western Region Athlete of the Year honors twice. He'll be joined by fellow juniors Cyprien Bille, Alex Teffu, Victor Ramos, and Hugo Kluczkowski. Sophomores Cody Nunting, Noe Chretien, Philipp David, Raymen Sanabria, and Gage Bedick bring additional experience. Freshmen Isaac Renteria, Emmanouil Vardas, Luke White, and Jackson Williams will make their debuts for the Aggies.
"Our focus is on getting a strong start and evaluating where we are as a group," said Head Coach Zach Johnson. "This meet gives us a chance to see how our early-season fitness translates to race day while keeping the long-term goal in mind being at our best in October and November."
Live results for both races will be available at twelve1running.com.
