Aggies Drop Final Matches of Tiger Invitational

HAYS, Kansas - The Cameron University volleyball team finished out the Fort Hays State Tiger Invitational on Saturday, falling 0-3 to Northwest Missouri and Arkansas Tech.

The Aggies (0-4, 0-0 LSC) will return home to Lawton for their home opener on Tuesday.

GAME ONE - CU 0, NWMSU 3

The Bearcats took victory in straight sets over the Aggies, winning 9-25, 14-25, and 14-25. 

Gabby Reynolds and Presleigh Roest recorded six and four kills, respectively, to lead the team, while Rachael White tallied seven assists. Three different Aggies in Shelby Rusch, Kayla Eggiman, and Clarissa Galindo recorded five or more digs in the contest.

GAME TWO - CU 0, ATU 3

The Aggies and the Golden Suns battled in a close match-up to close the Tiger Invitational. After dropping the first set 18-25, CU gave a fierce fight in the second and third sets, including a 6-0 run to tie the third set at 22-22, but the Golden Suns pulled away in both sets for the win, 21-25 and 22-25.

Jennifer Valdez led the offense effort for Cameron, leading the team with eight kills, while Reynolds and Roest finished right behind with seven and six kills. Kayla Quintana tallied 22 assists in the game, nearly matching her combined total from the previous three games. 

UP NEXT

The team returns home to Lawton and Aggie Gym as they open the home schedule against East Central on Sept. 9. The match will be a White Out, with the first 600 fans in attendance receiving freee White Out t-shirts. It will be the first of three meetings between the Aggies and East Central this season.
