LAWTON, Okla. - The Cameron University volleyball team returns home to the Aggie Gym as they look to open the home schedule with a match against East Central on Tuesday night.
The opener will play host to a White Out for Aggie fans as the first 600 fans at the game will receive a free White Out t-shirts. The Sept. 9 game is set for 6 PM with doors opening at 5 PM.
The game will be broadcast live on FloCollege with live stats available on StatBroadcast.
The Aggies (0-4, 0-0 LSC) are coming off of a hard-fought weekend at the Fort Hays State Tiger Invitational, dropping matches against Rockhurst, Fort Hays State, Northwest Missouri, and Arkansas Tech.
Cameron and East Central have met ten times in the past, with the Aggies holding a decisive 7-3 advantage in the series. The last meeting between the two teams came on Oct. 9, 2019, where the Aggies grabbed a 3-2 in a match that went the distance.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
East Central comes into the midweek match at 0-4, dropping all four of their matches at the Dallas Classic. The Tigers fell 0-3 to Minnesota State-Morehead, 0-3 to Southwest Baptist, 0-3 to LSC foe Dallas Baptist, and 1-3 to another LSC opponent in St. Edwards.
Jayla Buford and Faiana Halatoa lead the charge offensively for the Tigers, tallying 33 and 31 kills respectively this season. Emily Pena has been the engine for the Tiger offense by a large margin, recording 81 assist so far, almost 60 more than the second-best Tiger.
Defensively, Valentina Tijerina has tallied the most digs at 53 with Buford trailing in second at 38. Kensington White has proved the most stout Tiger at the net, leading the team with 13.0 blocks, with Buford coming second once again at 8.0.
