Lawton, Okla.  - The Cameron Women's basketball team fell short to St. Mary's at home Saturday evening. The first half was a battle of runs for the Cameron women, filled with hustle plays, second chances, and momentum swings. The opening tip went to Saint Mary's, but Cameron wasted no time making their presence known on the defensive end. Kloe Heidebrecht set the tone early with a big block, that turned the defensive energy into offense when Mercedes Mancha attacked the paint for a driving layup to put Cameron on the board. St. Mary's answered right back with a nice 3-point play from Raynne Malik. Despite the answer back, the Aggies faught back with great scoring on the offensive end to head right into the halftime break. After trailing 33-27 at the half, Cameron came out of the locker room playing hard. The Rattlers quickly scored off a turnover which pushed the deficit to nine. Cameron battled back to cut the lead 51-46 before going into the fourth. In the final quarter, Cameron continued to fight in a back-in-forth battle with St. Mary's as they looked to make clutch shots down the stretch, but Cameron made one final push highlighted by a clutch three from Mancha and a steal-and-score layup from Emmary Elizondo cutting it to one in the final seconds. The Aggies had a last look at the buzzer but fell just short, 64-62.
