Arlington, TX - Cameron Women's tennis took down #3 seed Lubbock Christian in the Lone Star Conference Championship Quarterfinals at the Arlington Tennis Center in Arlington, TX on Thursday afternoon, 4-3.
In doubles play, Cameron grabbed the first court after
Adel Ismagulova and
Isabella Quintero defeated Oshini Herath and Alexandra Luders on the No. 2 court, 6-2. Lubbock Christian picked up the win on the No. 1 court after No. 2-ranked Andrea De Bernardo and AnaMaria Zoric defeated No. 28
Jenna Goessel and
Nil Kalkavan, 6-4. The Lady Chaps clinched the doubles point after Kristel Jatvia and Sofia Valero Trevin defeated
Alexa Garcia and
Daniela Maldonado on the No. 3 court, 6-3.
In singles play,
Daniela Maldonado evened the match for Cameron at 1-1 after earning a 6-1, 6-1 win on the No. 6 court. On the No. 4 court, Kristel Jatvia won, 6-2, 6-1, against
Isabella Quintero to put Lubbock Christian ahead 2-1 in the match.
Alexa Garcia picked up a 6-1, 6-3, win over Oshini Herath on the No. 3 court to even the match once more. On the No. 5 court,
Nil Kalkavan defeated Sofia Valero Trevin, 6-3, 6-2, to put Cameron ahead 3-2 in the match. Lubbock Christian's AnaMaria Zoric went to a third set against
Adel Ismagulova and picked up the win to make it a 3-3 match. On the No. 1 court, after being down a set, Jenna Goesel forced a third set after winning in the second set tiebreaker and went on to win the third set 6-2 to clinch the match for Cameron and advance the team into the Lone Star Conference Semifinals.
