Andrew Brown took over as Cameron's twelfth head men's basketball coach on April 1, 2016 after spending the 2015-16 season as the Aggies' top assistant coach.
In his first season as the head man, Cameron posted a 17-12 record with a 10-8 Lone Star Conference mark, which led them to a fourth place finish in the league standings. Led by guards JV Long, Trey Hall, Tyus Momoh, and Delvante Pierre, CU led the LSC and ranked 23rd in all of Division II in fewest turnovers per game (11.0) as well as first in assist/turnover ratio (1.34). Both Long (second team) and Pierre (third team) were named All-LSC for the 2016-17 season.
Brown helped guide the Aggies to a 16-12 season where Cameron held a first place lead in the Lone Star Conference standings for half of the regular season. Cameron would reach LSC Tournament, making the semifinals with a 79-70 win over West Texas A&M. In the postseason, the Aggies took home six LSC awards, including the league's freshman of the year.
Brown is a 100 game winner as a head coach at Northwestern Oklahoma State where he led the Rangers from 2007-15 and complied an overall record of 119-112. In eight seasons at NWOSU, Brown had five 1,000 point scorers, with three of those inside of the top-5 all-time at Northwestern, and six All-Americans.
In 2013, Brown was honored as the Great American Conference (GAC) Coach of the Year and had 15 overall All-Conference selections in eight seasons as a head coach.
Brown also served as the Rangers' top assistant from 2004-07 and helped Northwestern Oklahoma reach the NAIA Elite Eight during the 2006-07 season.
Prior to arriving in Alva, Brown was an assistant coach at the University of Science and Arts for two season and also served as the assistant coach of the men’s and women’s program at Otero (Colo.) Junior College. Both teams won the conference championship with the women going 27-5 and the men ending with a 21-9 record.
Brown earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Sports Science from Northwestern Oklahoma in 1999 and Master’s in Education also from Northwestern Oklahoma in 2007.
