Lyons comes to Cameron with four years of experience as an assistant coach and was last at Huston-Tillotson in Austin, Texas in 2014-15. He was also at Fort Scott Community College (Fort Scott, Kan.) for a year and served a coach at Episopal High School and Lutheran South Academy in Houston, Texas.
Lyons got his start in coaching at the University of Houston from 2007-09 after his splitting his collegiate career between UH and Cedar Valley Community College. While with the Cougars,
Lyons reached the postseason in both seasons by making the NIT second round during his junior season, and made the Conference USA Championship Finals in the following year.
In 2008, Lyons earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Administration from the University of Houston.
