In June of 2019, Houston Moore was tabbed to take over the head coaching duties of the Cameron University men's golf program. He comes to Cameron after spending the past two seasons at Rangers Junior College as both the men’s and women’s head golf coach.
Despite being cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cameron men saw success during Moore's first year at the helm. CU notched three top-5 finishes, placing fourth at the MSU Mustang Invite and the Houston Classic and fifth at the inaugural Jerry Hrnciar Invitational, played at The Territory and named after CU's long-time and Hall of Fame head coach.
Moore's 2019-2020 team also saw Tyler Kaman named the Lone Star Conference Newcomer of the Year and Devin Whipple named to the conference All-Academic team.
While at Ranger, Moore saw the programs flourish with the women recording the first two wins in school history, the first individual win in school history, and the highest national ranking on Golfstat (4th). On the men’s side, he oversaw the school’s second ever win in school history, a number one ranked player in the country, a top-6 ranking, the best regional finish in school history, and a sixth place finish at the NJCAA National Championship. Moore also coached a pair of All-Americans, two All-American Scholars, and led a team that had a program best scoring average of 286.4.
Moore graduated from LeTourneau University with a major in sports communication. During his collegiate career, he was a two-time captain, a two-time Player of the Year winner, holds the LeTourneau record for most top-20 finishes in a single season and had the fourth best scoring average in school history.
