Josh Cobble has built Cameron tennis into one of the premier NCAA Division II programs in the South Central Region, combining championship results, national player development, postseason consistency and a strong student-athlete experience.
Named Cameron’s head men’s and women’s tennis coach in January 2017, Cobble returned to his alma mater with a proven record of building nationally competitive programs. Since taking over the Aggies, he has elevated both Cameron tennis programs into regular contenders at the conference, regional and national levels. Under his direction, Cameron has captured Lone Star Conference championships, NCAA South Central Regional championships, NCAA Championship appearances and national rankings while developing ITA All-Americans and nationally ranked singles and doubles players.
Cobble’s tenure has been marked by growth across both programs. He helped return Cameron tennis to the NCAA postseason after the Aggies had missed the national tournament since 2016, then guided the men’s and women’s teams to some of the strongest seasons in recent program history. His teams have competed successfully in one of the deepest regions in NCAA Division II tennis, highlighted by Elite Eight appearances, conference titles and regional championships.
In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Cobble was promoted in 2024 to Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Administration. In that role, he supports the broader operation and strategic direction of Cameron Athletics while continuing to lead both tennis programs. His work at Cameron reflects a career built on competitive success, student-athlete development, administrative leadership and service to the college tennis community.
