Jeffrey Mahoney

Jeff Mahoney was named the head coach of the Aggie women's basketball program in May of 2022 after three seasons as the assistant coach.

While on the bench for Cameron, Mahoney helped the Aggies to 41 wins, including 17 in 2022, the most in 20 years. CU also earned a spot in the Lone Star Conference tournament all three seasons with him on the bench as well as the South Central Regional in 2021.

In addition to his time as the assistant coach for the women, Mahoney also took the reins of the men's team halfway through the 2021-22 season after the resigning of the previous coach. During that time, he earned his 300th win as a men's basketball coach. He was also on the bench when the Aggies took down No. 3 Lubbock Christian in double overtime.

Mahoney came to Cameron after spending the past three seasons at Harrah HS in Harrah, Okla. as the head girls’ basketball coach. In 2017, he led his squad to a 4A State Championship with a 28-1 record and was named the OGBCA Central Region Coach of the Year.

Prior to his time at Harrah, Mahoney spent time at the collegiate level as part of the Northwestern Oklahoma State coaching staff; he was the assistant women’s basketball coach and interim head coach from Nov. 2015 to April 2016. He served as the recruiting and scouting director with a number of responsibilities during his time at NWOSU.

Cameron’s new assistant brings experience and success to the women’s basketball program. In 32 years of coaching, Mahoney has racked up over 450 wins, 11 state tournament appearances, one state championship, and six state runner-up finishes. His career resume includes stops at local high schools including Lawton Eisenhower, Elgin, Cache, Snyder and Chattanooga as well as a handful of other schools in Oklahoma.

Mahoney graduated from Cameron in 1986 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Health and Physical Education. He was a two-year letter winner for the CU baseball team and graduated from Roosevelt HS in Roosevelt, Okla.
