Tough Night for Cameron Volleyball

CANYON, Texas – Freshman Megan Olivarez and junior Sarah Corbett each had a team-high six kills, but the Cameron volleyball team dropped its Lone Star Conference match to West Texas A&M Thursday night in straight sets (13-25, 11-25, 22-25).

After falling down in the first set 4-0, Cameron (7-11, 2-3) was able to storm back and bring the contest within two (7-5). However, WT (11-7, 5-0) went a 6-1 run and put the game out of reach for the Aggies.

With the second set close early, Cameron looked poised to play the front running Lady Buffs. WT, meanwhile, was able to pull away midway through and get the game two victory.

Cameron opened the third set with a four point lead (10-6) and was able to maintain the advantage late into the match, but couldn’t hold on. The Aggies were led in the set by Olivarez and Corbett, who combined for six of the eight team kills.

The Aggies will be back in action Saturday at Eastern New Mexico, who is currently in the second set against Midwestern State. Cameron defeated ENMU last season in Lawton in straight sets.
